Aliskiren-amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people taking the drug were documented and compared to those that occurred in another group of people who took other blood pressure medications. As a result, it was possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the group taking other blood pressure medicines.
 
In these studies, the most common aliskiren-amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide side effects included:
 
  • Swelling or water retention of the hands, ankles, lower legs, or feet -- in up to 7.1 percent of people
  • Dizziness -- in up to 3.6 percent
  • Headaches -- in up to 3.6 percent
  • Common cold symptoms -- in up to 2.6 percent.
