Aliskiren/Amlodipine

Aliskiren/amlodipine is a drug prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure. The two components work together to reduce the rate at which calcium moves into the blood vessel walls and inhibit the action of an enzyme that has an effect on blood pressure. It is typically taken once a day. The most commonly reported side effect is water retention.

What Is Aliskiren/Amlodipine?

Aliskiren/amlodipine (Tekamlo™) is a prescription medication approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). As the name implies, it contains two different medications: aliskiren (Tekturna®) and amlodipine (Norvasc®).

Are There Side Effects?

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with aliskiren/amlodipine.
 However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
 
The most common side effect seen with aliskiren/amlodipine is swelling (water retention) in the lower limbs.
