More Info on Aliskiren/Amlodipine Interactions

Furosemide (Lasix)
Aliskiren/amlodipine can decrease the level of furosemide in your blood, possibly making furosemide less effective. If this drug interaction is a concern, your healthcare provider may need to adjust your furosemide dosage if you start or stop taking aliskiren/amlodipine.
 
Cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
Cyclosporine can greatly increase the level of aliskiren/amlodipine in your blood. These drugs should not be taken together.
 
Itraconazole (Sporanox)
Itraconazole can greatly increase the level of aliskiren in your blood. These drugs should not be taken together.
  
Ketoconazole (Nizoral)
Ketoconazole can increase the level of aliskiren/amlodipine in the blood, which could increase your risk of aliskiren/amlodipine side effects. In order to prevent this drug interaction, your healthcare provider may need to adjust your aliskiren/amlodipine dosage if you start or stop taking ketoconazole, although this may not be necessary in many cases.
 
Potassium
Combining aliskiren/amlodipine with potassium may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), a dangerous problem. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels using a simple blood test.
 
Simvastatin
Amlodipine increases the level of simvastatin in the blood, increasing the risk of serious muscle problems or other simvastatin side effects. If you take these medications together, the maximum recommended dosage of simvastatin is 20 mg a day.
  
Spironolactone Products (Aldactone, Aldactazide)
Combining aliskiren/amlodipine with spironolactone may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), a dangerous problem. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels during treatment.
