Drug Interactions With Aliskiren and Valsartan

ACE inhibitors, losartan, and furosemide are just a few of the drugs that can interact with aliskiren and valsartan. These and other interactions can lead to an increased risk of side effects or a decrease in the drugs' effectiveness. To help ensure a safe treatment process, tell your healthcare provider about all medications you are currently taking.

An Introduction to Aliskiren and Valsartan Drug Interactions

 Aliskiren and valsartan (Valturna®) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with aliskiren and valsartan include:
 
 
 
  • Atorvastatin (Lipitor®) or amlodipine and atorvastatin (Caduet®)
  • Furosemide (Lasix®)
  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
  • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
     
    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
