Side Effects of Amlodipine-Valsartan-Hydrochlorothiazide

Some of the most common side effects of amlodipine-valsartan-hydrochlorothiazide that were seen in clinical studies include swelling, muscle spasms, and dizziness. In most cases, side effects of the drug are minor. However, certain side effects are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately, including anxiety, depression, or rapid weight gain.

An Introduction to Amlodipine-Valsartan-Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with amlodipine-valsartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Exforge HCT®). However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Side Effects Seen With This Medication

There are a number of possible side effects with
 amlodipine-valsartan-hydrochlorothiazide that you should report to your healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of an electrolyte imbalance, such as:

 

    • Dry mouth and increased thirst
    • Weakness
    • Tiredness
    • Restlessness
    • Seizures
    • Confusion
    • Muscle pain and cramps
    • Decreased urine output
    • Weak or irregular heartbeat
    • Nausea and vomiting

 

  • Gout or worsening of preexisting gout
  • Lightheadedness or fainting, which can be a sign of dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Chest pain
  • Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • Severe swelling and water retention
  • Rapid weight gain
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • High blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
