Side Effects of Benazepril-Amlodipine

As with any medication, there are potential side effects of benazepril-amlodipine, including a cough, headache, unexplained swelling, and dizziness. When side effects do occur, they are usually minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. There are also some more serious and rare side effects of benazepril-amlodipine, such as an unexplained skin rash, difficulty breathing, or yellowing of the skin. However, not everyone who takes benazepril-amlodipine will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate benazepril-amlodipine well. Common Benazepril-Amlodipine Side Effects

Extensive clinical trials have looked at the effects of benazepril-amlodipine on thousands of people worldwide.

In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine. Based on these studies, the most common benazepril-amlodipine side effects include:

Cough -- occurring in up to 3.3 percent of people (see Lotrel Cough)
Headache -- up to 2.2 percent
Unexplained swelling -- up to 2.1 percent
High potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia) -- up to 1.5 percent
Dizziness -- up to 1.3 percent.
