Bisoprolol fumarate (Zebeta®) is a prescription drug commonly used for treating high blood pressure (known medically as hypertension). As a beta blocker, it works to lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure by blocking a specific type of beta receptor in the body, called beta-1 receptors. Bisoprolol comes in tablet form and is typically taken by mouth once a day. Before beginning treatment, tell your healthcare provider if you have diabetes, asthma, kidney disease, or liver disease.
