Drug Interactions With Bisoprolol

Several medications can cause drug interactions with bisoprolol, including calcium channel blockers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, clonidine, and certain arrhythmia medicines. These interactions could increase your risk for developing dangerously low blood pressure, a slow heart rate, heart failure, and various other potentially serious problems. If such problems are a concern, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely.

Bisoprolol Interactions: An Overview

 Bisoprolol fumarate (Zebeta®) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with bisoprolol include:
 
  • Alpha blockers (or medications with alpha-blocking activity), such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, such as:
 
    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
    • Lidocaine (Xylocaine®)
    • Propafenone (Rythmol®)
    • Quinidine
    • Sotalol (Betapace®)
 
 
 
 
 
  • Reserpine
  • Rifampin (Rifadin®).
