Catapres-TTS^® (clonidine hydrochloride) is a prescription medicine approved for treating high blood pressure. By stimulating alpha-2 receptors in the brain stem and decreasing certain substances (such as renin or aldosterone) in the body, this drug can help reduce both blood pressure and heart rate. It comes as a skin patch that is applied once every seven days. The patch can be used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications.
