Clonidine hydrochloride (Catapres®, Catapres-TTS®, Duraclon®, Kapvay™, Nexiclon® XR) is a prescription drug licensed to treat high blood pressure and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as severe pain in people with cancer. It belongs to a group of medications known as alpha-2 adrenergic agonists, which work by stimulating alpha-2 receptors in the brain stem and blocking pain signals from reaching the brain.
