Fosinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide Dosing for High Blood Pressure
The recommended dosage of
fosinopril-
hydrochlorothiazide for people with
high blood pressure (
hypertension) will vary between fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide 10 mg/12.5 mg and fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide 20 mg/12.5 mg once a day. Based on the initial
blood pressure response and/or fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide side effects, the dosage may be increased or decreased. With each change in dosage, it may take several weeks to see the full effects of fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide on
lowering blood pressure.
General Fosinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide Dosage Information
Some considerations for people taking fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide include:
- Your fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide dosage should be taken by mouth with a glass of water.
- It is best to take fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide on an empty stomach at least one hour before a meal. However, it may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach.
- Do not break, chew, or crush the fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide tablets.
- Make sure to take fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide at the same time each day to maintain even levels of the medication in your blood.
- For fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide will not work if you take it in a different way than your healthcare provider has prescribed.
- If you do not take your fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide as scheduled, take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with normal dosing. Do not take a double dose.
