Side Effects of Fosinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide

As with any medication, there are potential side effects of fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide, including a headache, cough, fatigue, and dizziness. There are also some more serious and rare side effects of fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide, such as seizures, difficulty breathing, or sexual problems. Most people tolerate the medication well, but you should consult a healthcare provider if you develop any unusual symptoms while taking fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide -- or if something "just doesn't seem right."

 

An Overview of Fosinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects associated with fosinopril sodium-hydrochlorothiazide (Monopril®-HCT). However, not everyone who takes fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide well. When people do develop fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide side effects, in many cases they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Fosinopril-Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

Extensive clinical trials have looked at the effects of this drug on thousands of people worldwide. In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occur in a similar group of people not taking the medicine.
 
Based on these studies, the most common fosinopril-hydrochlorothiazide side effects include:
 
  • Headache -- occurring in up to 7 percent of people
  • Cough -- up to 5.6 percent (see Fosinopril Cough)
  • Fatigue -- up to 3.9 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 3.2 percent.
