Catapres Skin Patch

Catapres-TTS® (clonidine hydrochloride) is a prescription medication approved to treat high blood pressure (known medically as hypertension). It can be used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure drugs. This medicine comes in the form of a skin patch. Catapres-TTS is available in three strengths, including:

  • Catapres-TTS-1 -- delivers 0.1 mg of clonidine per day
  • Catapres-TTS-2 -- delivers 0.2 mg of clonidine per day
  • Catapres-TTS-3 -- delivers 0.3 mg of clonidine per day.
  •
The skin patch is applied once every seven days. You should change your patch at the same time, on the same day every single week. If you forget to change your patch as directed, simply change the patch as soon as you remember. You can either continue with your usual patch-changing schedule (changing the patch on the usual day) or adjust your schedule so that this new patch is in place for a full seven days. If you consistently have trouble remembering to change the skin patch, Catapres-TTS may not be a good choice for you.
