What Types of Medication Are Used in Hypertension Treatment?

There are several types of antihypertensive drugs. In many cases, a combination of drugs works better than a single medication. The types of drugs commonly used to manage hypertension include:

Beta blockers
Diuretics
Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs)
Calcium channel blockers (CCBs)
Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors
Alpha blockers
Alpha-beta blockers
Nervous system inhibitors
Vasodilators.
