Information on Cardizem LA

Cardizem LA® (diltiazem hydrochloride) is a type of calcium channel blocker used in the treatment of both high blood pressure and certain types of angina. It works by slowing down the rate at which calcium moves into the blood vessel walls, which causes the vessels to relax and reduces the workload on the heart. The drug only needs to be taken once daily.

Although Cardizem LA can be an effective high blood pressure medication, the drug is not right for everyone. For example, people with liver problems or kidney disease may need to take a different medication. In addition, information on possible side effects should be reviewed with your healthcare provider to ensure your safety during treatment.
