Metoprolol Tartrate (Lopressor)

As a beta blocker, metoprolol tartrate (Lopressor®) is often prescribed to treat several conditions relating to the heart and blood vessels. For example, your healthcare provider may recommend this drug if you have high blood pressure or angina, or have recently had a heart attack. Metoprolol tartrate comes in tablet form and is available in two strengths. It is available in both brand-name and generic form.
 
Some of the conditions you should let your healthcare provider know about before taking this medication include hyperthyroidism, Raynaud's phenomenon or other circulation problems, and any allergies you may have. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
