Tekturna HCT Drug Information

Your healthcare provider may prescribe Tekturna HCT® (aliskiren-HCTZ) if you are an adult with high blood pressure (hypertension). This prescription medication contains two different active ingredients:

  • Hydrochlorothiazide (often abbreviated as HCT or HCTZ): A renin inhibitor that prevents certain enzymes from narrowing the blood vessels
  • Aliskiren (Tekturna®): A diuretic that decreases blood volume.
  •
Tekturna HCT comes in the form of a tablet that is taken once a day. It's important to take this drug consistently, either with or without food (fatty meals may decrease its absorption). In other words, you should either always take the drug with food or never take it with food.

Prior to beginning treatment with Tekturna HCT, inform your healthcare provider about all other medical conditions you have and any other drugs you are taking. This medicine is not right for everyone, and your healthcare provider will need this information to make sure that this is the right hypertension medication for you.

(Click Tekturna HCT for more information on this medication, including possible side effects and how it performed in clinical trials.)
