Side Effects of Indapamide

Some of the most common side effects of indapamide include fatigue, back pain, and muscle cramps or spasms. In most cases, side effects of the drug are minor and don't require medical attention. There are, however, a number of potentially serious indapamide side effects that should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately, including lightheadedness, high blood sugar, or signs of dehydration.

Indapamide Side Effects: An Overview

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with indapamide (Lozol^®); however, not everyone who takes the medicine will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate indapamide well. When side effects do occur, in most cases they are minor and either require no treatment or can be easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects With Indapamide

Indapamide has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials in which a group of people taking the drug have side effects documented and compared to another group not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, the most common indapamide side effects (occurring in at least 5 percent of people) included:

Headache
Infections
Back pain
Dizziness
Irritated or runny nose
Fatigue or weakness
Muscle cramps or muscle spasm
Nervousness, anxiety, or tension.

Other common side effects, occurring in between 1 and 5 percent of people, included (but are not limited to):

Flu-like symptoms (such as fever or chills)
Abdominal pain (stomach pain) or nausea
Chest pain
Constipation or diarrhea
Indigestion
Dry mouth (see Indapamide and Dry Mouth)
Coughing
Sinus infection or irritation
Sore throat
Conjunctivitis ("pink eye")
Lightheadedness
Vertigo (a sense of spinning)
Depression (see Indapamide and Depression)
Insomnia or drowsiness
Blurred vision
Impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction or ED (see Indapamide and Impotence).
