InnoPran XL Dosage: An Introduction
The dose of
InnoPran XL® (
propranolol XL) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- The severity of your high blood pressure
- How you respond to the medication
- Other medications you are taking
- Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Recommended Dosing for InnoPran XL
For most people, the starting InnoPran XL dose for
high blood pressure treatment is 80 mg once daily. If necessary, your healthcare provider may increase your dose up to a maximum of InnoPran XL 120 mg once daily.
As with all
beta blockers, you should not abruptly stop taking InnoPran XL, as serious problems (including
heart attacks) may result. Your healthcare provider will advise you on how to safely stop taking this medication. It is usually recommended to slowly reduce the dose over a period of one to two weeks, with careful monitoring. It is best to minimize physical activity during this time. Let your healthcare provider know if you develop chest pain or any other problems while stopping InnoPran XL.
General Dosing Information
Some considerations for people taking InnoPran XL include the following:
- InnoPran XL comes in capsule form. It is usually taken by mouth once a day at bedtime (approximately 10 p.m.).
- You can take the medicine with a meal or on an empty stomach. However, you should consistently take it the same way each time (either with or without food).
- Swallow the capsules whole. Do not chew, crush, or open the capsules.
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. InnoPran XL will not work if you stop taking it.
- In general, this medication should not be stopped suddenly, as serious problems (including heart attacks) may result.
