Who Should Not Take Isoptin SR?

You should not take Isoptin SR if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Isoptin SR, verapamil hydrochloride, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have severe left ventricular dysfunction (the left side of your heart is weak or damaged).
     
  • Have sick sinus syndrome and do not have a pacemaker.
     
  • Have third- or second-degree heart block and do not have a pacemaker.
     
  • Have low blood pressure (hypotension), with your systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg (millimeters of mercury).
     
  • Have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome or Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome.
     
  • Are having a heart attack and have fluid in your lungs.
