Drug Interactions With Losartan-Hydrochlorothiazide

Drug interactions with losartan-hydrochlorothiazide and other medications, such as lithium, narcotics, and muscle relaxants, can lead to changes in the body that were not intended. These drug interactions can allow your blood pressure to decrease too much or cause levels of certain elements in your blood to become too high. Therefore, it is important to discuss any potential losartan-hydrochlorothiazide drug interactions with your pharmacist or healthcare provider.

 

An Overview of Losartan-Hydrochlorothiazide Drug Interactions

 Losartan-hydrochlorothiazide (Hyzaar®) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these losartan-hydrochlorothiazide interactions can include:
 
o Amobarbital (Amytal®)
o Butabarbital (Butisol Sodium®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
o Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
o Thiopental (Pentothal®)
  • Narcotics, such as codeine, morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone
     
  • Cholestyramine (Prevalite®, Questran®, Questran® Light, LoCholest®)
     
  • Colestipol (Colestid®)
     
  • Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, hydrocortisone (Cortef®), dexamethasone (Decadron®, Dexone®, Hexadrol®), and many others
     
  • Norepinephrine
     
  • Corticotropin (Acthar®)
     
  • Muscle relaxants, such as tubocurarine.
