Hypertension Home > Aceon Dosage
When beginning high blood pressure treatment with Aceon, dosage recommendations generally start at 4 mg once a day. If you have certain medical conditions or are over age 65, your healthcare provider may choose to start you on a lower dose. The recommended daily Aceon dosage for maintaining your blood pressure level is 4 mg to 8 mg, taken as a single dose or in two smaller doses.
The dose of Aceon® (perindopril erbumine) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your age
- Other medical conditions you may have
- Other medications you may be currently taking.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
The recommended starting dosage of Aceon for most people with high blood pressure (hypertension) is 4 mg once daily. Based on the blood pressure response and/or Aceon side effects, the dosage may be increased or decreased. For most people, the normal daily dose is 4 mg to 8 mg, either as a single dose or divided into two smaller doses (2 mg to 4 mg twice daily).
With each change in dosage, it may take several weeks to see the full effects of Aceon on blood pressure.
If you have high blood pressure and are already taking a diuretic (water pill), your physician will most likely instruct you to stop the diuretic before starting Aceon. If you cannot stop the diuretic (for other medical reasons, for example), your healthcare provider may choose to start you on a lower dose of Aceon, such as 5 mg, under close medical supervision.
If you have kidney disease or kidney failure, or if you are over the age of 65, your healthcare provider may start you on a lower Aceon dose.
