What If I Overdose on Diuril?
People who take too much Diuril may have overdose symptoms that could include:
- Low electrolytes in the blood
- Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
If you happen to overdose on this medication, seek immediate medical attention.
How Should This Medicine Be Stored?
Diuril should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Both tablet and suspension (liquid) forms should be kept in an airtight container.
Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?
If you do not take your Diuril as scheduled, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose.
Brand-name Diuril tablets are no longer manufactured. Generic Diuril tablets are available in the following strengths:
A liquid form is also available for people with difficulty swallowing tablets: Diuril Oral Suspension 250 mg/5 mL (250 mg per teaspoonful).
An injectable form, called Sodium Diuril® (chlorothiazide sodium), is available for use in hospitals.
Is Diuril Available in Generic Form?
Currently, the tablet and injectable forms of Diuril are available in generic form. However, there is no generic suspension available at this time (see Generic Diuril for more information).
