Hypertension Home > Olmesartan Medoxomil

If you are an adult with high blood pressure (hypertension), your healthcare provider may recommend treatment with a medication called olmesartan medoxomil (Benicar®). This drug comes in tablet form and is taken on a daily basis.

Although most people tolerate it well, some people develop side effects during treatment, such as dizziness. Do not take any salt substitutes containing potassium or potassium supplements without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.

(For more information, click Olmesartan. This article provides details on how it works, an outline of additional side effects, and some safety precautions to be aware of before beginning treatment.)
