Propranolol sustained-release is commonly used to relieve angina, control high blood pressure, prevent migraines, and treat other conditions related to the heart and blood vessels. Part of a class of drugs called beta blockers, this medication is effective at decreasing heart rate, the heart's workload, and systolic and diastolic blood pressures. Side effects include weight gain, dry eyes, and depression.
What Is Propranolol Sustained-Release?Propranolol hydrochloride sustained-release (Inderal® LA) is a prescription medicine that has been licensed to treat several conditions related to the heart and blood vessels. It is part of a class of medicines called beta blockers. There is also an immediate-release form called Inderal® (propranolol).
Are There Side Effects?As with any medicine, side effects are possible with propranolol sustained-release. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. If side effects do occur, they are often minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
