Generic Midamor: An Overview

Midamor® (amiloride hydrochloride) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and water retention (edema). It is known as a "potassium-sparing" diuretic.

Brand-name Midamor was originally made by Merck and Company. However, the patent has since expired, and generic Midamor is now available. In fact, because Merck has stopped making Midamor, the generic version is the only option. It is common for manufacturers to stop making brand-name medications once a generic version is available (especially with rarely used medications such as Midamor).

Strengths of Generic Midamor

Generic Midamor tablets are available in one strength -- Amiloride 5 mg tablets.
