Moduretic Alternatives

If bothersome side effects occur during treatment, or if your condition is not adequately controlled with Moduretic, alternatives may be considered. This can include making certain lifestyle changes (such as limiting your salt and alcohol intake, and becoming more physically active) or wearing support stockings. Moduretic alternatives also include other medications (such as amiloride, furosemide, or spironolactone).

Moduretic Alternatives: An Overview

Moduretic® (amiloride-HCTZ) is a prescription medicine used for controlling high blood pressure or dealing with fluid retention. It is a combination of two diuretic medications: amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ). The drug is generally effective in treating these conditions, and most people tolerate it well. However, as with all medicines, side effects can occur or the medicine may not completely control a person's condition. Fortunately, several alternatives to Moduretic are available for high blood pressure or water retention.
