Moexipril/Hydrochlorothiazide 15/12.5 Mg

If you have high blood pressure, you may benefit from moexipril/hydrochlorothiazide (Uniretic®). This prescription medicine contains two blood pressure medications: moexipril (Univasc®) and hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide®, Oretic®), or HCTZ for short.
As a combination medication, moexipril/hydrochlorothiazide works by removing excess salt and water from the blood and blocking a certain enzyme that constricts the blood vessels. As a result, this medication helps to lower blood pressure by reducing blood volume and relaxing the blood vessels.
This drug comes in the form of a tablet and is typically taken once daily. There are three strengths of this medicine available, including:
  • Moexipril/hydrochlorothiazide 7.5 mg/12.5 mg -- 7.5 mg of moexipril and 12.5 mg of HCTZ
  • Moexipril/ hydrochlorothiazide 15 mg/12.5 mg -- 15 mg of moexipril and 12.5 mg of HCTZ
  • Moexipril/ hydrochlorothiazide 15 mg/25 mg -- 15 mg of moexipril and 25 mg of HCTZ.
(Click Moexipril/HCTZ for more information on the various strengths of this medication, as well as details on potential side effects, dosing guidelines, and general safety precautions.)
