Nifediac Side Effects

There are a number of possible side effects that may develop with the use of Nifediac CC. Side effects that are reported most often include swelling, headaches, and hot flashes. Other rare but possible side effects of Nifediac CC may include a dry mouth, diarrhea, and weight loss. Serious side effects (such as chest pain, an irregular heart rhythm, and depression) should be reported to your healthcare provider right away.

Nifediac Side Effects: An Introduction

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with Nifediac CC® (nifedipine). However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. When side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Nifediac Side Effects

Nifediac CC has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials in which the side effects of a group of people taking the drug are documented and compared to another group not taking the medicine.
 As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.
 
In these studies, the most common Nifediac CC side effects included:
 
  • Swelling or water retention in the hands, legs, or feet -- in up to 29 percent of people
  • Headaches -- up to 19 percent
  • Flushing or hot flashes -- up to 4 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 4 percent.
