Olmesartan Medoxomil/Amlodipine/Hydrochlorothiazide Dosage

A healthcare provider will take several factors into consideration when determining your dosage of olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide. Some of these factors include your blood pressure readings and other medications you are taking. This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once daily. The maximum daily dose of this drug is 40/10/25 mg.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Olmesartan Medoxomil/Amlodipine/Hydrochlorothiazide

The dose of olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide (Tribenzor™) your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
  • Your blood pressure
  • How you respond to the medication
  • Other medications you are taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Dosing for High Blood Pressure

Olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide is a combination blood pressure medication. It contains three prescription products -- olmesartan (Benicar®), amlodipine (Norvasc®), and hydrochlorothiazide (sometimes referred to as HCTZ).
If you have already been taking the individual components of this medication as separate tablets, and your blood pressure is controlled, you will likely be started on a similar olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide dosage. If your blood pressure is still high, your healthcare provider may choose to start you on a higher dose of one of the components.
If you have been taking two of the components of this medicine without adequate blood pressure control, your initial olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide dosing will likely be a similar strength. If necessary, your healthcare provider may increase your dosage after at least two weeks of treatment. The maximum recommended olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide dose is 40/10/25 mg.
Olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide is not approved for use as an initial medication in people who are not currently treated with medicine for high blood pressure, or people who are only taking one blood pressure medicine. It should only be used in those who are already taking at least two high blood pressure medications.
