Common Reactions to Olmesartan Medoxomil/Amlodipine/Hydrochlorothiazide

Common Side Effects

Olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, one group of people received olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide, while other people were given two of the three components (either olmesartan and amlodipine, olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide, or amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide). As a result, it was possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the other medications.
 
In clinical studies, the most common side effects of olmesartan medoxomil/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide included:
 
  • Dizziness -- in up to 8.9 percent of people
  • Swelling, or edema, in the hands, ankles, or feet -- up to 7.7 percent
  • Headaches -- up to 6.4 percent
  • Tiredness -- up to 4.2 percent
  • Stuffy or runny nose and sore throat -- up to 3.5 percent
  • Muscle spasms or twitches -- up to 3.1 percent
  • Nausea -- up to 3.0 percent
  • Infection of the sinuses or upper respiratory tract, such as the common cold -- up to 2.8 percent
  • Diarrhea -- up to 2.6 percent
  • Urinary tract infection, such as a bladder infection -- up to 2.4 percent
  • Swelling in the joints -- up to 2.1 percent.

You may experience some or none of the side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have problems with a medicine that you have never tried.
