Common Olmesartan Medoxomil-Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

Extensive clinical trials have evaluated thousands of people worldwide who were taking olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide. In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to side effects that occurred in a similar group of people not taking the medicine. Based on these studies, the most common side effects of olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide include:
 
  • Dizziness -- occurring in up to 9 percent of people
  • Upper respiratory tract infection, such as the flu or common cold -- in up to 7 percent
  • Increased uric acid levels in the blood -- in up to 4 percent
  • Nausea -- in up to 3 percent.

Rare Side Effects of Olmesartan Medoxomil-Hydrochlorothiazide

Rare side effects of olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide occur in less than 1 percent of people taking the drug. Given how uncommon they are, it can be difficult to tell whether these side effects are caused by the medication or by something else.
