Side Effects of Olmesartan Medoxomil-Hydrochlorothiazide

As with any medication, side effects of olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide can occur. Common ones include dizziness, nausea, and upper respiratory tract infections. There are also some more serious and rare side effects, such as seizures, difficulty breathing and swallowing, and hair loss. However, in most cases, olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide side effects are minor and easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Side Effects of Olmesartan Medoxomil-Hydrochlorothiazide: An Overview

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide (Benicar HCT®). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in many cases, they are minor, meaning they require no treatment or are easily treated by you or a healthcare provider. Serious side effects can occur, but are less common.

Serious Olmesartan Medoxomil-Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects 

Some
 side effects of olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Unexplained skin rash
  • Unexplained blisters or peeling of the skin
  • Itching
  • Unexplained swelling of the head or neck (including the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
  • Wheezing
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting spells
  • Decrease in the amount of urine produced
  • Dry mouth
  • Increased thirst
  • Weakness
  • Tiredness
  • Restlessness
  • Seizures
  • Confusion
  • Muscle pain or cramps
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Weak or irregular heartbeat.
