Drugs That Can Interfere With Plendil

Plendil Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Plendil is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Beta Blockers
Plendil may increase the level of beta blockers (especially metoprolol) in the blood, which can increase your risk of Plendil side effects. Also, taking Plendil and beta blockers together can increase your risk of low blood pressure (hypotension). Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these medications to prevent drug interactions from occurring.

Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Taking Plendil with certain antibiotics or antifungals can increase the level of Plendil in your blood, which may increase your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely and may need to lower your Plendil dosage while you are taking antibiotics or antifungal medications.

Certain Seizure Medications
Combining Plendil with certain seizure medications may decrease the level of Plendil in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your Plendil dosage as a result.

Cimetidine (Tagamet)
Cimetidine can increase the level of Plendil in your blood, possibly increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your Plendil dose or may suggest one of the cimetidine alternatives.

Delavirdine (Rescriptor)
Taking Plendil with delavirdine can increase the level of Plendil in your blood, which may increase your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely and may need to lower your Plendil dose while you are taking delavirdine.
