Drug Interactions With Propranolol/HCTZ

Some medications, such as barbiturates, calcium channel blockers, and narcotic pain relievers, can cause negative drug interactions when taken with propranolol/HCTZ. These reactions can alter the amount of the medications in your blood, possibly causing side effects or lowering your blood pressure to unsafe levels. To help ensure a safe treatment, tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking.

An Overview of Propranolol/HCTZ Interactions

 Propranolol/HCTZ (Inderide®) may react with many other medications. Some of the drugs that may lead to interactions with propranolol/HCTZ include but are not limited to:
 
 
 
  • Amifostine (Ethyol®)
  • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
  • Barbiturates, such as:
 
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
    • Betamethasone (Celestone®)
    • Cortisone
    • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
    • Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
    • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
    • Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
    • Prednisolone (Ovapred®, Pediapred®)
    • Prednisone
    • Triamcinolone (Kenalog®, Aristospan®)
 
  • CYP 1A2 inhibitor medications, such as:
 
 
  • CYP 2D6 inhibitor medications, such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
