Propranolol/HCTZ

Propranolol/HCTZ is a medicine prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure. The medicine combines two blood pressure medications to achieve its effects, which include decreasing blood volume and reducing the workload on the heart. It comes in tablet form and is taken once or twice a day. Side effects can include dizziness, nausea, and headaches.

What Is Propranolol/HCTZ?

Propranolol/HCTZ (Inderide®) is a combination medication used in the treatment of high blood pressure, known medically as hypertension. It combines two high blood pressure medications: propranolol (Inderal®) and hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide®, Oretic®), or HCTZ for short.

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, propranolol/HCTZ can cause side effects.
 However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
 
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
 
Common side effects seen with propranolol/HCTZ include but are not limited to:
 
  • Dizziness
  • A spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Fatigue
  • A slow heart rate
  • Nausea
  • Headaches.
