Drugs That Can React With Tekturna HCT

Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid)
Taking hydrochlorothiazide (one of the components of Tekturna HCT) with lithium may increase the level of lithium in your blood, possibly increasing your chance of side effects. In general, people are not recommended to take lithium with diuretics, including hydrochlorothiazide. If you do take these medications together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor your lithium level more closely and/or change your lithium dose.

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Tekturna HCT can interact with NSAIDs in several ways. The combination could cause your blood pressure to increase or may cause swelling (edema), especially if you have congestive heart failure (CHF). If you are elderly, have kidney disease or kidney failure, or are dehydrated, taking NSAIDs and Tekturna HCT together may cause kidney failure. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential drug interaction before taking these medications together.

Potassium-Containing Products
Taking Tekturna HCT with potassium products may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can be a serious problem. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels.

Spironolactone Products (Aldactone, Aldactazide)
Combining Tekturna HCT with spironolactone may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can be a serious problem. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels.

Triamterene Products (Dyrenium, Dyazide, Maxzide)
Taking Tekturna HCT with triamterene may increase your risk of high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can be a serious problem. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your potassium levels.
