Tekturna HCT Side Effects: An Overview
As with any medicine, side effects are possible with
Tekturna HCT® (
aliskiren-HCTZ). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Tekturna HCT. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Tekturna HCT side effects with you.)
Common Tekturna HCT Side Effects
Tekturna HCT has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials.
In these studies, one group of people received the medication, while another group was given a placebo (a "sugar pill" that does not contain any active ingredients). As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the group who took the placebo.
In these studies, common Tekturna HCT side effects included:
- Dizziness -- in up to 2.3 percent of people
- The flu -- up to 2.3 percent
- Diarrhea -- up to 1.6 percent
- Coughing -- up to 1.3 percent (see Tekturna HCT and Cough)
- A spinning sensation (vertigo) -- up to 1.2 percent
- Weakness -- up to 1.2 percent
- Joint pain -- up to 1 percent.
