More Info on Products That React With Telmisartan/Amlodipine

Telmisartan/amlodipine may increase digoxin levels in the body, increasing your risk for serious side effects. This is most likely to occur when you first start taking telmisartan/amlodipine or when your dose is increased. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor your blood levels of digoxin with a simple blood test. He or she may need to decrease your digoxin dosage.
Telmisartan/amlodipine may increase the amount of lithium in your body to unsafe levels. Signs of lithium toxicity include the following:
  • Tremors in the hands or legs
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty walking
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion.
If you take telmisartan/amlodipine and lithium together, your healthcare provider should monitor your blood lithium levels. You may need a lower lithium dosage. If you experience any of the signs of lithium toxicity, contact your healthcare provider right away.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Telmisartan/amlodipine can interact with NSAIDs in several ways. The combination could cause your blood pressure to increase or may cause swelling (edema), especially if you have congestive heart failure (CHF). If you are elderly, have kidney disease or kidney failure, or are taking a diuretic ("water pill") or are dehydrated, taking NSAIDs and telmisartan/amlodipine together may cause kidney failure.
Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential drug interaction before taking these medications together.
Other Blood Pressure Medications
Taking telmisartan/amlodipine in combination with other blood pressure medications may increase your risk for dangerously low blood pressure. If your blood pressure becomes too low, you may become dizzy, lightheaded, or faint. Only take these medications together with your healthcare provider's approval.
