Do I Need to Worry About Telmisartan/Amlodipine Interactions?
Telmisartan/amlodipine may increase your potassium level. If you are taking potassium to treat a deficiency, your dose may need to be lowered, or you may need to stop taking potassium altogether. Check with your healthcare provider before combining telmisartan/amlodipine with any potassium-containing product.
Combining telmisartan/amlodipine with potassium-sparing diuretics could increase your risk for high blood potassium (hyperkalemia). If your healthcare provider recommends taking these medications together, your blood potassium levels should be closely monitored.
Amlodipine increases the level of simvastatin in the blood, increasing the risk of serious muscle problems or other simvastatin side effects. If you take these medications together, the maximum recommended dosage of simvastatin is 20 mg a day.
