Drug Interactions With Telmisartan/Amlodipine

When lithium, calcium channel blockers, or other blood pressure medications are taken with telmisartan/amlodipine, drug interactions may occur. These reactions can alter the level of the medications in your blood and increase your risk of potentially dangerous side effects. To help reduce your risk for complications, tell your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medications before starting treatment.

An Overview of Telmisartan/Amlodipine Interactions

Telmisartan/amlodipine (Twynsta®) may react with a number of other medications. Some of the drugs that may lead to interactions with telmisartan/amlodipine include but are not limited to:
 
 
  • Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), such as:

 

 
 
  
  • Other blood pressure medications
  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
     
    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
