Side Effects of Telmisartan/Amlodipine

Although most people do not experience problems while using telmisartan/amlodipine, side effects are possible. Common ones include swelling, headaches, and fatigue. Serious problems have also been known to occur with this medication. Notify your healthcare provider right away if you experience difficulty breathing, decreased urine production, chest pain, or other potentially dangerous side effects.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Telmisartan/Amlodipine

Just like any medicine, telmisartan/amlodipine (Twynsta®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Telmisartan/Amlodipine Side Effects

Some side effects of telmisartan/amlodipine are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of very low blood pressure (hypotension), such as dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  • Signs of kidney problems, such as:
 
    • Decreased urine production
    • Unexplained weight gain
    • Severe swelling in your legs, feet, ankles, or hands
 
  • Chest pain
  • High potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
     
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing.
