More Info on Interactions With Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide
If you are taking both telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide and a potassium-sparing diuretic, your body may metabolize these drugs differently than intended and/or increase the levels of potassium in your blood. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely if this is the case.
Taking digoxin and telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide together may increase the levels of digoxin in the blood. When starting or stopping digoxin or changing the digoxin dosage, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely and/or make necessary dosing adjustments.
If you are taking warfarin with telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide, your body may metabolize the warfarin differently than intended. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your INR and prothrombin time more frequently and adjust your warfarin dose accordingly. INR and prothrombin time are tests used to measure how well your blood is clotting.
If you are taking both telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide and lithium, your body may metabolize the drugs differently than intended and increase the lithium levels in the blood. For this reason, lithium is generally not recommended in people taking telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide.
Taking insulin with telmisartan/hydrochlorothiazide may cause high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). Depending on your particular situation, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and/or adjust your dose of insulin as needed.
