Who Should Not Take Telmisartan?

You should not take telmisartan if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Micardis, telmisartan, or any inactive component used to make the telmisartan. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of inactive ingredients.
  • Have diabetes and are also taking any medications that contain aliskiren (Tekturna®, Tekamlo®, Tekturna HCT®, Amturnide®, Valturna®), due to an increased risk for low blood pressure, high blood potassium, and kidney problems in this situation.
