Trandate Side Effects: An Overview
As with any medicine, side effects can occur with
Trandate® (
labetalol hydrochloride). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it well. If side effects do occur, they are generally minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
(This article discusses most, but not all, side effects with Trandate. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Trandate side effects with you.)
Common Side Effects With Trandate
Trandate has been studied extensively in clinical trials, with thousands of people worldwide having been evaluated.
In these studies, side effects are always documented and compared to those that occur in a similar group of people taking a placebo (a "sugar pill" with no active ingredient) or a different
blood pressure medication. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the group not taking Trandate.
Based on these studies, the most common Trandate side effects include:
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- A slow heart rate
- Nasal stuffiness.
Other common reactions (occurring in more than 1 percent of people) include but are not limited to:
- Vomiting
- Numbness, burning, tingling or other unusual sensations
- Heartburn or indigestion
The chances of experiencing side effects with Trandate increases when the dosage is increased.
