Drug Interactions With Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide

As with any medication, there are potential drug interactions with valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide. For example, taking valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide along with a potassium supplement or salt substitute with potassium can cause the levels of potassium in your blood to become too high -- which can cause serious problems. Other valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide drug interactions can change how your body metabolizes the drugs, make certain drugs less effective, and alter the levels of some drugs in your blood. A few of the drugs that can potentially interact with valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide include lithium, alcohol, oral diabetes medication, and cholestyramine.
