Verelan PM and Breastfeeding

The manufacturer of Verelan PM recommends that women who are breastfeeding avoid Verelan PM due to the potentially serious side effects that could occur to the nursing infant. Women who decide to breastfeed should talk to their healthcare providers about taking the blood pressure medication, because it does pass through breast milk to the nursing infant.

 

Verelan PM and Breastfeeding: An Overview

Verelan PM® (verapamil hydrochloride) does pass through breast milk. Because of the serious side effects that could occur in the nursing infant, the manufacturer of Verelan PM does not recommend that women who are breastfeeding take Verelan PM. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you are breastfeeding or thinking of breastfeeding.
