Zaroxolyn Side Effects

Although most people have no problems when taking Zaroxolyn, side effects can occur. For example, the drug may cause impotence, dry mouth, or blurred vision. In many cases, these side effects are minor and easily treated. However, if you experience more serious side effects of Zaroxolyn (such as an unexplained skin rash, a rapid heart rate, or fainting spells), contact your healthcare provider right away.

An Overview of Zaroxolyn Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Zaroxolyn^® (metolazone). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Zaroxolyn Side Effects

Zaroxolyn has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials, in which the side effects of a group of people taking the drug are documented and then compared to the side effects of another group of people not taking the medicine.

As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, some of the possible Zaroxolyn side effects included:

Vertigo (a spinning sensation)
Abnormal sensations, such as burning or tingling (paresthesias)
Impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction or ED (see Metolazone and Impotence)
Drowsiness, fatigue, or weakness
Restlessness or insomnia
Headaches
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea or constipation
Loss of appetite
Abdominal bloating
Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
Dry mouth (see Metolazone and Dry Mouth)
Joint pain
Blurred vision.
